We had a long walk around town today – visiting all the shops and saying Hi to everyone, before lunch at home. In the afternoon we went to Outspan for a afternoon coffee and wifi access. Back at home after a dinner of Cachori, we played Bookar and managed to get the I Pad connected to the Internet.
Tuesday 17th
Again a long walk, but we wanted to find out about plastic covering for the dining table at home and getting some Rands. There was a crazy difference in the rates that the banks would give for Sterling to Rands, but Barclays offered a good rate, so we told them to order us a decent amount. For dinner we made Jamaican Boats, then played bookar again.
Checked out of the hotel and on the way to the airport stopped at Milans parent house for food. It was a quick flight, then a drive to Surya Masis where we deposited the Gang before Bhavni and I went down the road to Savita Masis. For dinner Bhavni, Mits and I went to a Coroga, where Nirmal was already cooking for his friends !
Saturday 14th
Oshwal Center
We dropped Miten to Oshwal Center (he was of course going to a wedding), then went back and tried to make some biscuits for Savita Masi – we made the wrong shapes for the mixture, but they were nice.
After averting the biscuit crisis we went to see TC Fooa to say hello, then did a little retail therapy. Back with the parents we then went for a wee bit more socials – dads Mama and then Miras parents. The place has really become developed with high rises since we had been there before. After we went to Parita’s parents place, where we made a plan for Lunch the next day.
For dinner we (thats Nirmal, Anji, Saanya, Miten, Bhavni and I) went to Furasatos, which is a nice Tepanyaki place. I ate the most out of everyone (and became the vacuum for the day).
Sunday 15th
Well that was unexpected – Bhavni, Mom and I went to drop Miten to the airport and as usual we were running late as KQ online check in was not working. Well Miten being Miten ends up getting security checked and nearly forgets his Suit at the scanner, luckily Bhavni managed to go inside and help him out. He has faced with the possibility of going back, but luckily he managed to get the last seat apparently.
Anji, Nirmal and Saanya leaving
After getting back, Bhavni and I went and Met Parita’s parents for lunch at a Chinese restaurant (Taste of China), one of their regular haunts. It was a nice meal – and very filling. Well after saying bye we then met up with Mina Auntie at her brothers house, where we got a tour and more food – though only Nasto this time.
We got back to the Surya Masi’s house and Suresh came over with Pizza and Maru Bujya. Bhavni went with mom to drop Saanya, Aaaaanji and Nirmal to the airport, while Dad chatted to Suresh. After they got back, we then had a scary ride back to Nyeri with the driver arriving just after midnight.
A Slightly late start as Dad had to see Shila Auntie, so it was a little rushed getting to the airport in Nairobi. It was a short flight to Mombasa.
In Mombasa we went to Milans fathers house, where we had some refreshment and food, before heading to the hotel on the south coast. There was a large queue for the ferry and I got a tan just in the car. We arrived at BaoBab and found we were upgraded to nice rooms in Kole Kole by Nimesh. We had a couple of drinks before dinner.
The Ocean
Tuesday 10th
I tried to be good and went to the gym with Miten in the morning – and yes I overdid it a little, but with just swimming (in the sea and the pool) and eating and drinking it was not much of an inconvenience.
Wednesday 11th
Well I went to the gym, but Miten was late – yep he was ill… We played water polo and stayed in the pool for most of the day. We really got tanned.
Thursday 12th
Instead of the gym, Bhavni, Miten and I went for an early morning walk on the beach – It got really hot even that early.
Thursdays Special Dinner Menu
For dinner we got a really nice surprise, Nimesh had set up a special meal for us. After dinner we played cards again.
Our first full day here – well we went visiting in the morning – first to Sheila aunties house then to the shop seeing the place, before doing a small round.
For the afternoon we went to Outspan, where I had a beer and ‘whatsapp’ed everyone in the UK. In the evening, we had visitors.
Friday 6th
I was in the drivers seat today as we went some grounds (Timau), just north of Nanyuki, which was a 2 hour drive, crossing the equator. It was a rainy and cold day, but we had food in a covered area and relaxed for a bit, looking at the small falls and playing ball games.
At home after dinner, we played cards….
Saturday 7th
Bhavni, Miten and I went to Greenhills hotel in the morning, where we had a drink. We got back to town and went to sort out a chip for the I Pad, but had to go back to Greenhills as Kanti Mama, Govindji Masa and Savita Masi had come and gone directly there. After another drink, we went home and had pizza from a ‘jeecko’, before they left back for Nairobi. After dinner we had a long ride to Othaya to see Kibakis house there. Again a little cards in the evening…
Sunday 8th
Lunch at Aberdare Country Club
A day to relax, we all went to Aberdare Country Club for a lunch and sat in the sun. It was amusing watching Saanya try to walk down a really steep hill. We went back home and got ready for the next day.
We arrived in Joburg in the morning, but because of the delay in the previous flight we only had 40 minutes to transfer – we ran a little. We were worried about our bags, but the gate staff assured us the bags were on the next flight.
We got to Nairobi, but out bags did not, We were told that the bags were on the next flight coming to Nairobi, and Miten and Nirmal still had not arrived. Eventually we found out that we could leave the airport building and come back in to collect the bags after going to the security entrance, so we left and found the guys (well they just came after we got out), and we went to the Panari Hotel to kill a little time.
After we got the bags from the airport, we went directly to Nieri, where everone was awake, so a cool greeting. We had a full meal and then retired to bed.
